About Diane Scott

Diane.png

I am a retired nurse with 43 years of experience working in the NHS in various roles in Newcastle and Wakefield, mostly in the community. I have a good grasp of how ageing affects independence, health, housing, finance and quality of life. I feel passionate about all aspects of ‘ageing well.’ Being a Trustee of the Elders Council will allow me to be part of an organisation which is committed to achieving this.

I have a wealth of caring experience, not only as a nurse but also as a carer for my late parents and currently for another relative. I have a broad knowledge of dementia, long-term medical conditions and cancer and how these diseases impact on someone’s everyday life. I am an advocate for involving patient/public participation in healthcare and I enjoy engaging with people and finding out their views and concerns.

In addition to nursing, I have been actively involved in volunteering with Girlguiding UK for 35 years as a leader. This has required commitment, organisational skills and energy and is a role I greatly embrace.

I am hardworking and enthusiastic, always giving 100% to any task I am involved with. I am a team player with a good sense of humour. I am principled, too, which means I am prepared to speak out against injustice.
